We grow thriving businesses, while investigating new models for being in business.
Our work centers people, invests profit in alignment with values, and supports innovative, creative, and passionate owners (pssssst, that's you!) We believe in vacations, weekends, and occasional days of playing hooky, and we believe in building profitable business models that generate abundant revenue.
We don’t sound like traditional business consultants or finance folk, because we’re not. We provide expertise, with an approach that is humor-filled, de-jargonized, intuitive, and responsive to your particular background, skills, desires, and worldview. We’ll ask you about your feelings, your dreams, and your ideal day, and use those conversations to help you understand your financials, structure your team, and guide you in building a business that is entirely your own.
- We build elegant business structures that support abundance and happiness.
- We believe in creating profitable businesses, and in reinvesting profit to support people and communities.
- We are collaborative, inquisitive, and gently challenging in our approach.
- We empower owners in building healthy foundations and creating businesses with integrity.
- We focus our attention so that we can be generous and unwaveringly present in our work.
- We believe in vacations and lunch breaks and occasional days of playing hooky.
Founder & Director
Kate believes a business is like a massive art project: you lead with a vision, and then you gotta get granular and execute. An expert in translating big, creative, passionate ideas into sustainable reality, she honed fierce negotiation skills over years living in India; learned the true meaning of the buzzword “sustainable” while organic farming in Minnesota; and has developed an intuitive, flexible approach to her work with over twenty years of yoga study practice. She now lends her breadth of experience to shepherding ideas from napkin sketches to robust balance sheets and emboldening owners to exceed their own expectations.
She uses her knack for seeing both the forest and the trees to lead owners in focused, day-to-day actions that create ambitious, momentous growth. Known for combining irreverence and humor with jedi-like listening skills, she lends these skills to organizational development, community-minded strategy, and, of course, making a kick-ass business plan with staying power.
After she hangs up her “bosslady” hat for the day, Kate excels at hammock naps and booking plane tickets with frequent flier miles. Contrary to popular belief, she’s not from Minnesota, but she did live there for years, learning fierce winter-layering skills while attending Carleton College and working at the Walker Art Center.
Helen lives in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, NC. She dedicated the past 20 years to finance and operations at organizations focused on environmental conservation and HIV/AIDS. She loves making a positive impact on the people and world around her. Her passions are traveling the world with her airline-industry husband, hiking, camping, and riding her motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway and renovating her 1900's house.
Currently at home in Denver, Colorado, Erica can be found following story lines and collecting zip codes. As a lover of people, patterns and processes, she has often been drawn towards socially-engaged communities, playing a part in their growth and evolution. Between the coffee she's drinking and the stories she’s collecting, Erica excels at knowing all the words to that hip hop song & cooking.
Chelsey is a North Carolina native currently living in Goldsboro, NC with her husband and two fur-babies. Her background is in theatre and her passion is in finance, and she loves being part of a team that helps small businesses thrive. In her spare time, she advocates for military spouse unemployment and underemployment and enjoys traveling, dancing, and catching up on her favorite Netflix Series (especially Stranger Things and Grace & Frankie).
Michael currently resides in New Mexico where he can frequently be found exploring and camping in the mountains. While earning his degree in Business Finance in northern California, he deepened his love for the outdoors spending time in the old growth redwood forests and on Lake Tahoe. When not crunching numbers, he practices and leads meditation, yoga, and mindfulness gatherings to achieve balance in his life.
Sam was our employee of the year before we even had employees. She recently completed her Masters Degree in Nutrition and is usually found drinking the best coffee in the city. If you want the lowdown on vegan food in Philly, she’s your expert.
